In the early 1970s, Jesse Hutchison went to his garage and crafted a brass key ring. His wife, Marian, used the ring for her car keys for the next 50 years, before passing it on to her daughter, Jill, who still uses it today.

Jill and her two daughters founded Grey Mare to share the quality craftsmanship of this special key ring. Their family set out to find the same materials and techniques Jesse used decades ago. 

All key rings and attached buckles are made with solid brass, each starting with a naval brass rod that is hand crafted into a 3.5 to 4 inch diameter ring and buckle (depending on the collection). 

We’re immensely proud that our products are not mass produced and are made in the United States. Their premium quality means you never need to purchase a second key ring for generations.
