Founded by a mother & daughters trio, Grey Mare is owned and operated out of Columbia, SC.
FAQ
Where are your key rings made?
Our materials are shipped to Columbia, South Carolina where they are handcrafted and assembled. From there we distribute both our online orders as well as wholesale orders out of our Lexington, SC location.
What materials are used in your key rings?
All of our brass rings are made of “464 brass”, also known as “naval brass”. We chose this brass type as it is extremely corrosion resistant, has good strength and hardness, as well as excellent resistance to zincification. Most importantly it is completely lead free with a composition of 60% Copper, 39.25% Zinc, and 0.25% Tin.
The buckles and split rings used in our various designs are all Solid Brass - LL and they all meet California PROP 65 and European REACH Standard.

Can I add more buckles or swivels to my Grey Mare Key Ring?
Our solid brass key rings are now soldered together so that the buckle attachment and your keys are secure. Therefore only buckles or rings with an opening (such as a clip or a split ring) can be added to your Grey Mare key ring.
How do I care for my Grey Mare Key Ring?
Your Grey Mare key ring does not need special care to last a lifetime.
It’s natural for brass to form a patina due to a natural chemical reaction between the copper and elements including oxygen and water. While this is often a desired characteristic,i f you’d prefer to bring it back to its polished original state, we recommend polishing using your preferred method.
What are your sustainability efforts?
Our priority is ensuring the planet is better off due to Grey Mare’s existence–not worse. Therefore we take sustainability incredibly seriously.
We are working to offset each year’s sales by investing in solar panels on properties in Columbia and Lexington, South Carolina. Keep an eye here for more details to come soon.
How do I return my order?
Returns are accepted for non-sale item(s) within 30 days upon receipt. An order number is required to process returns. Sale items are final sale – no exchanges or returns.
